CRIC is a no-profit association born in 1983, active mainly in the fields of cooperation and solidarity.
CRIC perception of co-operation is based on the following assumption:
"an exchange among the different social, cultural and economic realities active in Italy and their correspondents in the South of the World"
CRIC's intent is to carry out a south - south co-operation based on the sharing of resources, positive values and experiences
in an optic of mutual exchange among the south of Italy and the South of the world,
without distinction of geographical area.
CRIC is engaged in:
- Promoting a sustainable self development with regard to local society and eco-system.
This is achieved by building and supporting networks with social forces and by supporting
processes of participative democracy;
- Implementing, with local partners, programs aiming to facilitate exchange of research
and experimentation of possible alternative socio-economic models. Programs are also the
tool for a broader shared planning that aims to support the assertion of populations
sovereignty on the resources of their own territories;
- Activating, with local Communities and Organizations, which are the stakeholders in
the process of change in the south of Italy and in the intervention territories,
informative campaigns on the defense of social rights, valorizing positive experiences
of partners;
- Playing an active role in the process of resistance to the unfair trade systems,
through the activation of campaigns of civil mobilization on the causes and consequences
of the present globalization model. Supporting initiatives linked with other active
movements in the territory and in co-ordination with them;
- Promoting development policies, implementing development and humanitarian programs
including disaster preparedness. In its programs CRIC always aims at working in
countries where it has relations with local partners and to follow a strategy that
refuses pure welfares and aims at accompanying populations from an emergency situation
to a sustainable self development process;
- Promoting a "diversity preserving" approach in order to preserve identities of
minorities;
- Adopting a "listening" approach, recognizing and revising contributions and value
of other cultures and in a gender approach, to be included as a practice in CRIC's
initiatives in Italy and abroad.
