Project funded by the European Commission trough its Humanitarian Aid Department ECHO funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflict outside European Union. Resource Centre
A center of educative resources will be established, in order to support teachers of the KGs in taking care of the KG environment
and, to maintain active and self sustained the teachers network.
General objective is to realize educative environments, welcoming and respectful of child needs through the production of
didactic games and didactic furniture.
Specific objectives will be:
- Train and involve teachers in the production of didactic materials with poor and recycled materials;
- Improve the cooperation between school and family, facilitating the collective and active involvement of families in:
designing and building welcoming educative environment; activities programming; educative development of the child.
- Grant continuity and sustainability in the medium and long term to the changes activated within the present operation,
giving to the network a place where to meet, exchange opinions, experiences, knowledge on issues related to early childhood
education and children's rights.
The center will be organized as follows:
- One workshop for the production of didactic games with poor and/or recycled materials and for the construction of
small furniture. The workshop will be equipped with small carpentry tools - handsaw, drill, sandpaper, pliers, screwdriver etc. -
and other useful tools - sawing machine, glue pistol etc..;
- One store for materials - wood, recycled materials, rejected materials, fabrics, stationery, colours etc..;
- One meeting room to be used by the network, for self organized trainings or other events. The meeting room will be
furnished with a library with thematic books, one computer, one printer and a telephone.
- One small van to be used transporting the workshop in the KGs, involving directors, teachers and most of all
parents in the production of games and furniture.
Part of the needed equipments, such as the small van and some carpentry tools will be made available by the playbus team already
equipped with such tools. The playbus team will be actively involved in the management and carry out of the activities of the Center.
The centre will be established in the offices of the newly established “KGs Teachers Union Trade”, sponsored by the local NGO
Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development.
Activities:
Within the first phase of the project the following activities will be carried out:
- identification and purchase of equipment for the workshop and store;
- identification and purchase of furniture and equipment of the meeting room;
During the second phase, teachers, directors and parents will be involved directly in order to:
- realization of the workshops;
- restore the old furniture, repairing, painting or using special techniques such as decoupage;
- organize the class rooms, through the new furniture, corners dedicated to specific educative activities;
- involvement of parents in workshops and construction of equipments;
- elaboration and distribution of a practical guide on how to realize furniture equipments and didactic games for children;
- organizing regular monthly meetings of the teachers network and workshops.
As part of a long term strategy the resource center will be linked to the “KGs Teachers Trade Union”. The trade union was established only
few years ago but after a long process lasted 6 years, supported technically and financially by the well known NGO Palestinian Working Woman
Society for Development PWWSD.
A preliminary agreement with the PWWSD has been signed, foreseeing that all equipments purchased will be
donated at the end of the project to them, and made usable by all teachers even non registered to the Trade Union.
Accessibility will be
granted by bylaws and article no. 3 of the “KGs Teachers Union Trade” Constitution which emphasize the role of the Trade Union in
providing the community with services for the support of the socio, economic and developmental process in the Palestinian society.
Furthermore, follows under the strategy of the Trade Union to involve always new teachers, raise reputation and be supported by a group
of professionals.
Sustainability will be granted by the following activities:
- identification and purchase of equipment for the workshop and store;
- identification and purchase of furniture and equipment of the meeting room;
During the second phase, teachers, directors and parents will be involved directly in order to:
- The sponsoring of the PWWSD.
- Within the networking activity the KGs Teachers Union Trade will establish relations with other unions, organizations
and syndicalism bodies that should support the sustainability of the resource center through providing raw materials and funds.
Reinforce links between teachers members of the network and the “Teachers Trade Union”.
The KGs Teachers Trade Union is an independent body supported by the local NGO the Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development.
A pre-agreement has been signed with this organization which will be responsible of organizing meetings or workshops in order to involve
teachers of the network in the Trade Union. A minimum number of two meetings for each governorate will be held.
Topics proposed for the meetings are:
- The Palestinian Labour Law;
- The importance of the syndicalism work;
- Human rights, women's rights and gender;
- Building alliances, negotiation skills and collective barraging.
These lecture will raise the awareness of working towards their legal and syndicalism rights and will provide them with the legal
and democratic tools enabling them demanding and improving their working conditions, reaching their free active participation in the
public life.
The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development and the representatives of the KGs Teachers Trade Union will organize
the meetings and workshops requested free of charge.
